AIM AND OBJECTIVES

The AASULE-Sussex shares the overall Aim of the All-Afrika Students Union Link in Europe (AASULE). Accordingly, the AASULE-Sussex aims to work together in unison with all other bodies within and outside the fold of the AASULE in seeking all-round support for the All-Afrika Students Union (AASU) by helping to educate, organise and mobilise Afrikan students, youth and other community groupings, in alliance with all those genuinely interested in true Friendship with Afrikan people, so as to build principled Unity with all progressive forces to counteract Afriphobia, all other forms of Racism, Xenophobia, Imperialism, indeed all unjust manifestations of discrimination, oppression and exploitation, and thereby advance efforts towards the achievement of such total Liberation, unification and self-determined progress of the continent and diaspora of Afrika as will result in holistic Pan-Afrikan Community Regeneration for Sustainable World Development to win Global Justice for all.

To achieve its overall Aim as stated above, the AASULE-Sussex emphasizes the following objectives as the highlights among its key Steps of Positive Action:

  • Studying, honouring and promoting authentic Pan-Afrikan Community Heritage, together with its rich Treasury of intellectual and other forms of wealth and its best traditions of Student and Scholar Activism, by upholding the organic unity of Afrikan students, together with youth and other sections of their Society within and beyond institutions of education, as a one All-Afrikan Family Community whole, that has inalienable rights to Self-Determination, Respect and Equity, in accordance with all the Global Justice principles of Sustainable World Development and Global Citizenship wherever Afrikans live;
  • Defending all Human and Peoples’ Rights and promoting, within this context, the collective as well as individual welfare of Afrikans, with particular regard for the Pan-Afrikan betterment of the studying, working and living conditions of Afrikan students, youth and people in harmony with all others;
  • Advocating most strongly the genuine Democratization of Education by promoting Cognitive Justice, Equity and freely open access to Intercultural Lifelong Learning for all; promoting the harmonisation of mural, extra-mural and all other forms of Learning; and also ensuring that Afrikan perspectives, as has been and still are being worked out theoretically and practically by Afrikans themselves, are brought into the enrichment of Learning in all spheres of human endeavour; doing so with a view to advancing Pan-Afrikan Knowledge Integration into Global Citizenship Education to the benefit of all;
  • Promoting the rich diversity of Pan-Afrikan Culture as being developed by the peoples of the continent and diaspora of Afrika in their own advancement of the Arts, Sciences and Creative Industries not only for the purposes of Edutainment but also in the course of Freedomfighting for their own total Liberation;
  • Campaigning in diverse ways and means for the appreciation of Afrikan solutions to the problems of the continent and diaspora of Afrika and also for the recognition of the contributions of Afrikans to the making of Civilization and to the resolution of major questions facing our contemporary World;
  • Promoting Dialogue Among Civilizations and other forms of Intercultural Concourse between the peoples of the continent and diaspora of Afrika and those of the continent and diaspora of Europe, including engagements of Action Research and Critical Intellectual Discourse between the communities of schools, colleges, universities and other spaces of Lifelong Learning all over the World where there is historical and contemporary Afrikan presence; drawing into such Dialogues and Concourses the representatives of all relevant governmental as well as non-governmental organisations of State and Civil Society respectively, including those of the African Union (AU) such as the Pan-African Parliament, and those of the European Union such as the European Parliament (EP), as well as those of the United Nations Organisation (UNO) such as the UNESCO;
  • Raising awareness about the efforts of Positive Action being carried out in tackling the root-causes of Underderdevelopment and Maldevelopment, with the necessary emphasis upon the Green Revolution, Biodiversity in harmony with Human Development and Sustainability, throughout the continent and diaspora of Afrika today; heightening awareness about such efforts of Positive Action by not only the well-known governmental and non-governmental organisations of State as well as affluent Civil Society bodies but also those of the lesser known or even internationally unknown grassroots organisations, networks and campaigns of the impoverished masses of Afrikan student, youth, women, labour, peasant, unemployed, self-employed, trade unions, cooperatives, community rights defenders and other people’s democratic forces; promoting, facilitating and helping to develop Twinning and the building of mutually beneficial Link-Networking relations between progressive
    forces from such backgrounds and their counterparts in Europe and other parts of the World;
  • Utilising the innovative creativity of its members and the progressive forces of the Pan-Afrikan and Global Justice movements to develop various other educative advocacy, networking, campaigning, social enterprising and also charitable endeavours that are conducive to the achievement of the overall aim and objectives of the AASULE and which effectively promote the cause of Pan-Afrikan Community Regeneration for Sustainable World Development to win Global Justice for all.
