► Welsh students

This page gives information about funding available to Welsh students studying at Sussex in 2010/11.

Information about what 2009/10 funding can still be found on the Direct Gov website.

What help can I get to fund my course?

If you are a full-time undergraduate student who is ordinarily resident in Wales, you are eligible for help with your fees and living costs on the same basis as full-time undergraduates from England. This means that you may be eligible to apply to your local authority (LA) in Wales for a Fee Loan, a Maintenance Loan, a Maintenance Grant/ Special Support Grant and any of the supplementary grants for students in certain circumstances. You can also apply online to Student Finance Wales. Have a look at our funding pages for full-time undergraduate students starting at Sussex in October 2010 or Student Finance Wales for more information about the support that is available, how to apply and how you will be assessed.

Some local authorities in Wales may still refer to the Welsh Assembly Grant. Please note, however that the Welsh Assembly Learning Grant has been abolished and has been replaced instead by the Maintenance Grant/Special Support available to all home students.

You may also be able to secure additional funds from a variety of different sources ranging from part-time work to awards from educational trusts.  Have a look at our additional sources of income and additional help available to Sussex students webpages for further information.
