► Music & Equipment
Music –
The Sussex Universities Big Band has a wide and varied library of music, ranging from Jazz Standards (Take the A-Train, Moonlight Serenade) to Funk (The Chicken, New Rochelle) and Jazz arrangements of Pop and Rock tunes (Norwegian Wood, Moondance) to male and female Vocal numbers (Straighten Up and Fly Right, Luck be a Lady, Is This Any Way to Fall in Love?). The bands repertoire is constantly being updated with all new additions being suggested by members of the band before being purchased. The band has a tight, interchangeable set-list that can be modified for any occasion, be it a wedding reception or black-tie ball.
Equipment –
SUBB owns most of it’s own equipment and has access to what it doesn’t own, including P.A system, through the generous support of the University of Sussex Music Department. This band therefore comes as a self-contained unit (not including transport). The band puts profit made from membership fees and other engagements towards maintaining it’s current, and buying new, equipment.
