Once a year, the Union will advertise for a student to take a position as Women's Officer, LGBT Officer, Postgraduate Officer, etc. Any student covered by that description is entitled to apply, not only those who are active in the group. This officer then has the right to represent those students on USSU Council and Campaigns Committee.

We have a series of Representative Associations who send reps to Campaigns Committee and Council. These campaigns aim to provide for specific needs within the Students' Union and the University. They aim to provide a meeting point for groups who experience specific problems with discrimination, and/or who are likely to be under-represented in the Students' Union.
This allows students who face discrimination in wider society to meet in a 'safe' environment with other students. The campaigns try to raise awareness and education, both among their members and within wider society.

In 2005, a Disabled Students' Forum was established, but is not currently active. We hope that in the new year, this group, as well as a group for Mature students or those with dependants and Post Graduates will get going.
