How do I join a club or society?

I'm not a Sussex student, can I still join clubs and societies?

How can I book a room for an activity?

I heard you have practice rooms that I can use, how do I book them?

How do I join a club or society?
You can join most clubs and societies at any point during the year. Keep an eye out for them at the Freshers Fair during Freshers Week and ReFreshers Fair at the start of the Spring Term, these are a great chance to chat to people already involved. Don't worry if you miss these as you can find more information about each of our clubs and societies in the 'Sports, societies and volunteering' section of our website. To join a society simply pop along to the Activities Centre with your membership fee (if applicable) and a photo and we'll issue your membership card. To join a sports club you'll need to register online through our website.

I'm not a Sussex student, can I still join clubs and societies?
Yes you can! You will need to become an Associate USSU Activities member. This costs £10 for the academic year (£4 for students or unwaged and FREE to UBSU members)

How can I book a room for an activity?
We take bookings for rooms in Falmer House in the Activities Centre, via email - activitiesadmin@sussex.ac.uk, or over the phone - 01273 877641. Rooms can be booked by clubs, societies and students for free. If you would like to book a University room you will need to collect a room booking form from the Activities Centre or Sussex House

I heard you have practice rooms that I can use, how do I book them?
USSU has two practice rooms; a small room with a piano and a band room with piano, drum kit, PA and amps. Use of the practice rooms costs £10 for a year for the small room only or £25 for a year to include use of the band room. This is considerably cheaper than commercial rates and the money will be used to maintain and update the equipment available. Rooms can be booked in the Activities Centre with Jo Walters, Student Activities Administrator – activitiesadmin@sussex.ac.uk or 01273 87 7641
