At the beginning of the year we launched our new website. Although still being worked on, it can provide you with plenty of useful information. Sussex Mohawks and Ultimate Frisbee
Sussex's Ultimate team has been competing at the top end of the University Championships since 1985, largely thanks to our great program for teaching beginners how to play the game. Most of our 1st team had never seen the game played before they joined University, and now compete at an international level in Open, Mixed, and Women's divisions. Both the Open and Women's teams have previously won the University Outdoor Championships, sending teams which included freshers who had only picked up a frisbee a few months previously.
Ultimate Frisbee is a fast-paced team sport that will have you sprinting your way around the pitch and scoring by catching the disc in the end zone (like American Football, but without the tackling and body armour).
We'll take you across the country to play in weekend long tournaments where socialising with other universities at the Saturday night parties is not so much encouraged as expected (and standard of play on Sunday mornings is forgivably lower).
You'll also get the chance to come on our annual trip to Italy's Burla Beach to bask in the sun and play against teams from across Europe in a tournament where we play hard, party harder and always aim to be the team in the best fancy dress.
Get involved in our socials, beat the club 3 Pint Challenge record - and you'll also learn about Mafia, our second favourite team game.
So come along to a practice, introduce yourself and we'll teach you how to play. Welcome to the Mohawks!
