Get Involved

Getting involved in Project V is so easy!  First of all check out our volunteering opportunities

with external organisations here.  Once you've seen something you like, book an appointment with us. We are located in the Activities Centre, Falmer House (1st floor). You can also just pop into the Project V Office in the Activities Centre and browse through our further information folders and the computer kiosk in Project V's drop-in area.

The Project V team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have and help you to find the perfect opportunity.

Membership

You will automatically become a member of Project V, as soon as you choose your volunteering placement.  However, you can become a Project V Member even sooner by emailing projectv@sussex.ac.uk

and telling us that you would like to become a member.  You will then receive our weekly email bulletins with news of upcoming projects and volunteering opportunities.

Travel Expenses

All organisations registered with Project V will pay for your travel expenses – so you won’t be out of pocket for your volunteering.

Support

Project V staff provide ongoing support throughout your volunteering placement. So if you have any questions, concerns or problems- or you just want to let us know how much you enjoy your volunteering- let us know!

When you have been volunteering for about one month you will be offered a skills session with the Careers and Employability Centre

This session will enable you to identify the skills that you are developing through volunteering and find out how it can help you with your career plans.

For further volunteer development and support click here.

International Students

You need a 'Tier 4 Student Visa' in order to be able to volunteer in the UK. Unfortunately, if you are visiting Britain on a 'Student Visitor Visa' only, you will not be able to undertake any volunteering activity. If you're not sure which visa you have, please contact the University of Sussex International and Study Abroad Office for advice: Tel.01273 678422 or e-mail migration@sussex.ac.uk

Skills Session

When you have been volunteering for about one month you will be offered a skills session with a Careers Advisor in CEC.  This session will enable you to identify the skills that you are developing through volunteering and find out how it can help you with your career plans.

What to do next

After you’ve had a look at opportunities, the next step is to get in touch with Project V. We will give you all the help you need to choose and arrange the right volunteering placement.

You can call us on 01273 873387 or send us an e-mail to projectv@sussex.ac.uk
