► Club Information

The Men's Rugby Club runs two teams that compete in the British University Sports Association (BUSA) leagues. Both teams play their games on Wednesday afternoons, competing against other University teams from around the Southeast region. Last season the 1st XV won their league and secured promotion whilst the 2nd XV came a respectable fourth in a competitive league.

The first team also reached the semi-final of the National BUSA Vase Competition and narrowly missed out on a place in the final. The club also takes part in the Sussex RFU Shield knockout competition, having won the Plate competition in 2007.

Last but certainly not least the club participates in the annual Varsity Day. This event is one of the most important of the season with the long established rivalry against Brighton University ensuring that the match is always hard fought.

Socials

Men's Rugby prides itself on its team spirit and the integration of all the players regardless of ability. Our socials reflect this ethos and each Wednesday night all players don their best fancy dress and go out together.

Social highlights of the year include Christmas Dinner, Sports Ball, Pub Golf and Varsity Day as well as the weekly Kangaroo Courts. The club goes on a annual tour and in recent years has visited Prague, Rimini and Salou.

Fresher Introduction Sessions

Two Fresher Introduction Sessions will be running this year on Friday 3rd October 2-4pm and Sunday 5th October 2-4pm at the Falmer Sports Complex. The club will also have a stand at the Freshers' Fair on 1st October in Library Square. If you're interested in playing rugby come along and get involved. The club has a wide of variety of players with different abilities and all people are welcomed.
